Who is niqwithq?

I'm Niq! A digital native who has grown up with Nintendo, the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Darkwing Duck, LEGO and the outdoors (fresh air) in an exciting time called the nineties™. My pronouns are he/him.

I like to read, write, listen to podcasts, play video games, travel and be out in the nature. I love hiking and my Austrian home is just the right place for that.

I'm a user

First and foremost, I'm a user. I love software and I have loved software all my life. Software choices really concern me: privacy, accessibility, usability, the way that we use software and—the way that software uses us (this is dark, but unfortunately, true). It is possible and actually very likely that I spend too much time thinking about software.

I've discovered my passion for software in my teenage years. To this day, software fascinates me. I have a strong conviction that software exists to make our lives better and I believe this is an idea worth fighting for.

I'm a writer

After years of struggling and getting a better grip on my perfectionism, I've finally built my personal website in 2023, when I reduced my working hours and discovered writing as my favourite hobby. On my blog, I write about software, being a user, the small web, travel, emojis, internet culture and so much more.

I'm a designer

I have worked as a software designer for 6+ years. Since software plays such a huge part in my life, designing software is where my passion lies. For the past 5 years, I've been designing web applications at Accenture Song in Vienna, primarily for Austrian and German companies and institutions in the public sector, in the health sector and in banking.

I'm a traveller

Ever since my Erasmus term abroad in Finland in 2013, I've enjoyed travelling. Travelling is my number one source of inspirations in life. I love to learn how people in other countries with different cultural backgrounds solve problems and figure things out. Observing how other nations design their worlds is often quirky, funny and inspiring.

Why are you Niq with Q?

Writing my name with the coolest letter of the alphabet is something I've always considered to be very unique. Preeeeeeetty cool, I know.
