About Labelling the Web
The web would be a better place, if we all acknowledged that assistive technology and screen reader users are relying on labels. If we don't use them, users will be excluded, as they won't be able to perceive the content they are supposed to interact with..
About the talk
My talk aims to educate and inspire people that work on the web and in software development teams, such as designers, developers, software testers, product owners or project managers. We all need to be aware of one profound truth of the web: it all comes down to text. Screen readers (or page crawlers) can't process images or icons and therefore rely on proper labelling of web content.
I'm regularly refining this talk, which is why there's already a couple of blog post sequels to my original blog post about labelling the web from August of 2023.
I gave this talk a couple of times. Find out more about the talks I give to audiences.
